A total 985 cases of benefit abuse were discovered by the Benefit Fraud Unit within the Social Security Department between 2013 and November last year.

Social Affairs Minister Michael Farrugia told Labour MP Charles Mangion in reply to a Parliamentary question that 2,636 benefit fraud allegations were investigated during the same period.
