89 per cent of Gozitan students studying at the University, Mcast or the Institute of Tourism Studies live in Malta during the week and return to Gozo for weekends.

The remaining 11 per cent cross between the two islands daily, a study by the Grupp Universitarji Ghawdxin has found.

The study was launched at a conference at the University campus in Gozo today.

During the conference, Gozo Minister Giovanna Debono announced that assistance given to Gozitan students studying in Malta is to increase to €400 every three months as from this year. This allowance is to be given to all Gozitan students without distinction.
