More than 850 individuals sent an e-card to ousted minister Carm Mifsud Bonnici yesterday as part of an online initiative launched by the Nationalist Party.
Party general secretary Paul Borg Olivier e-mailed the PN’s social media database yesterday to invite people to show their “solidarity” by sending Dr Mifsud Bonnici a message of support.
The initiative was integrated into the PN’s latest website www.mychoice.pn and gave supporters the opportunity to post a comment to Dr Mifsud Bonnici.
Hundreds of people took to the site to condemn the “unfair” way in which Dr Mifsud Bonnici was forced to resign after giving such a great contribution to the country. However, the idea quickly became the butt of online jokes too, with many poking fun at the overly sentimental attitude being taken by the party to a minister who was ultimately forced to resign after Parliament censured him on various shortcomings in the sectors under his responsibility.
“I suggest we give him a massive group hug to complement Dr Borg Olivier’s campaign,” wrote one Facebook user.
