An 80-metre baguette, the biggest ever baguette to be produced in Malta, is being prepared for baking to be sold during a Festa ta' Ħobż in Qormi this evening.

The baguette, which will be in St Sebastian Square, will be sold in aid of Puttinu Cares. There will also be live entertainment and a competition for the best Maltese pudding, also in aid of Puttinu Cares.

The activity is being held as part of the Lejl f'Casal Fornaro activity, being held tomorrow.

The event will see the old streets of Citta Pinto transformed into what they were hundreds of years ago during the time of the knights.

Several entertainment stages offering offering live drama and traditional Maltese music, including ghana, band marches and shows by established singers.

The world-war two shelter beneath the police station, will be open for public viewing for the fourth consecutive year.

This activity is co-ordinated by the Kummissjoni Zghazagh Bastjanizi, with the cooperation of the Qormi Council.

The organisers are supported by Maypole Bakery Ltd, whose involvement in the bread-making industry in Qormi dates back to more than a century.
