A group of 77 migrants has been rescued from a dinghy 55 miles off Delimara.

The migrants, 68 of whom are men and three are pregnant women, were picked up by a patrol boat.

The alarm was raised in a satellite phone call to Rome rescue centre late yesterday, when the dinghy was 80 nautical miles off Malta. 

A group of 107 migrants also arrived in Lampedusa this morning.

Another group of 70 migrants were rescued from a sinking dinghy off the Libyan coast late on Saturday by Italian patrol boats in an operation coordinated by the AFM.
