Some 680 voting documents were collected today up to 6 p.m. a spokesman for the Electoral Commission said.

That reduces the number of uncollected voting documents to about 5,600.

Some 700 voting documents were collected on Monday, 800 on Tuesday and over 1,000 yesterday. The documents have to be collected personally by eligible voters from the offices at Evans Building, Valletta, up to midnight today.

In terms of the law, no voting documents can be handed out after midnight, even in the case of voters arriving from abroad. And the documents may not be collected by anyone other than the people whose particulars appear on the document.

At the 2003 elections, 2,377 voting documents remained uncollected, when there were 294,106 eligible voters. This time there are 314,364 eligible voters.
