A group of 67 migrants is being brought to Malta after being rescued by a Russian bulk carrier, the AFM said.

A woman in labour and her four-year-old son, who had formed part of the group, were airlifted to Malta and the remaining migrants are being transferred to an AFM patrol boat which will return to the maritime base at Hay wharf.

The migrants were picked up by the 'Yelena Shatrova' in rough seas.
