The foundation tasked with making technology accessible to people with disabilities receives about 600 requests for help annually, Parliamentary Secretary for Competitiveness Jose Herrera said.

He was speaking during a visit to the Foundation for Information Technology Ac-cessibility, set up in 2000 by the Malta Information Technology Agency and the National Commission Persons with Disability. Dr Herrera, with Parliamentary Secretary for the Rights of Persons with Disability Justyne Caruana, attended a presentation on the services the foundation offers.

These include Braille embossing services, training and information sessions, helpdesk support and consultancy. Dr Caruana said IT served as a platform to allow people with disabilities to reach their aspirations, especially in employment.
