Two secondary schools that will open next year are set to accommodate more than 1,100 students following an investment of €19 million, the Education Ministry has said.

The Mosta school will be opening its doors by the next scholastic year while the other school, in Victoria, will start operating later on in the year.

In a statement, the ministry said that during summer the Education Directorate was carrying out some €600,000 worth of maintenance works in 64 state schools.

The Foundation for Tomorrow’s Schools was also doing structural works so two schools that catered for students with special needs would be converted into resources centres.

This would allow the reform for special needs schools to go ahead, with the aim of promoting inclusion and maximising students’ potential.
