Almost 20,000 migrants have been reviewed by the Office of the Refugee Commissioner since 2002.

Answering a question by Etienne Grech (PL), Home Affairs Minister Emanuel Mallia said that 535 of those reviewed were granted refugee status.

Half were granted subsidiary protection and 6,100 had their request for refugee status rejected. 704 were granted temporary humanitarian protection.
