A total of 44 tired swimmers were today assisted at the Blue Lagoon by the Emergency Response and Rescue Corps lifeguards.

Most found themselves in difficulty as they tried to swim across the Lagoon from Cominotto, a small island to the northwest of Comino, to Comino. All swimmers were accompanied safely to shore.

The lifeguarding service at Blue lagoon is run on a daily basis through the financial support of the Malta Tourist Authority.

Support is also given by the Gozo Ministry, Transport Malta,  the police, the Armed Forces of Malta and the Civil Protection Department.
