Forty one foreigners have been arrested in drug-related raids over the past few days, the police said today.

Between March 29 and 30, the vice squad together with the customs law enforcement section arrested three people who were found with ecstasy pills as well suspected cocaine and ketamine which shows it was not for their exclusive use. The three were arraigned and sentenced to four years in prison as well as a fine.

Last Thursday, the police arrested 23 persons after they were found in possession of ecstasy and cocaine following an operation conducted by the vice squad and the Qawra district police. Some have already been charged in court, the police said.

Yesterday, the police arrested another 15 persons in Rabat after they were found to be in possession of ecstasy.

All the arrested persons are foreigners, but the police did not give their nationality. It is not yet known whether the foreigners were attending the large DJ parties organised in Malta.
