Thirty-three jobs in Malta are "at risk" as a result of a worldwide restructuring plan by GFI Software.

The messaging and security software company said the restructuring plan will simplify and streamline the business, reduce its current cost base and implement the structure needed for growth.

"As part of this exercise, a total of 85 positions could be at risk, of which 33 might be in Malta. These changes will happen over the next three months to minimize the impact on employees and productivity," the company said.

“We have exciting and aggressive growth plans for GFI. In order to achieve our growth objectives, we need to create a streamlined and simplified foundation and remove the complexity that exists in the business today. This complexity slows our pace of innovation, and will complicate the integration of new products and businesses.” Scott Brighton, GFI’s Chief Executive Officer said.

“We believe these changes, while difficult, will make us a stronger company poised to execute our acquisition strategy and drive faster organic growth. We are excited to put our new model into action in 2016.” he added.
