Over €3,000 were collected at Bay Street during a fund raising event for the Mission Fund school-building project in Tanzania last weekend.

The event consisted of two variety shows featuring popular singers and dance groups, a display by the Malta Police, poster exhibitions showing Mission Fund projects in Kenya, Guatemala, Peru and this year's project in Tanzania. The public were also able to buy a number of items from a Bazaar or sponsor a uniform for a child in Tanzania.

Twenty-five Mission Fund volunteers will travel to Tanzania in July to spend five weeks helping in the construction of a school for children, most of whom are HIV positive. The project was requested by Sr Domenica Ciliberti a Maltese nun working in Tanzania.
