A concert by the philharmonic orchestra will kick off this year's Arts Festival, which will see the participation of 250 local and international artistes.

Organised by the Council for Culture and the Arts, the 23-day long programme will be divided into 17 activities at the Mediterranean Conference Centre, the Grandmaster's Palace, Auberge De Castille, Auberge D'Italie and the MITP Theatre in Valletta, together with the Ospizio and Argotti Gardens in Floriana.

Commencing on July 1 at the MCC, the festival ends with the staging of A Midsummer Night's Dream at the Argotti Gardens.

The programme includes a variety of events, including plays, concerts, baroque orchestras, exhibitions, cello, violin and piano recitals, a brass trio, singing and duets by artistes from France, Italy, the UK, the US and Turkey.
