Malta registered a 21% increase in registered aircraft last year and in the first months of this year, bringing the number to 103, Transport Minister Austin Gatt said.

Speaking during a visit to FlyTech Services, the minister said it was government’s policy to promote Malta as a leading jurisdiction for aircraft registration and as an attractive location to base air operating companies.

Transport Malta reported a notable interest from air operators to relocate their business to Malta and was currently processing more than 30 requests from international business aviation operators.

The minister said that to date, Malta had some 2,500 employees in the industry and around another 120 students were reading for engineering and aviation courses.
