Some €200 million from the European Fund for regional Development will be allocated for the environment between this year and 2020, Parliamentary Secretary Ian Borg said today.

He was speaking at Ta’ Qali where the building of a new €3.8m civil amenity site is nearing completion. The project is also making use of EU funds.

He said the government would use the EU funds on waste treatment, water conservation, protection of valleys and clean energy.

Dr Borg said Malta was in an advanced stage in the planned allocation of EU funds 2014-2020 and last month it submitted its partnership agreement .
