Around 200 shipbuilding and process design professionals will travel to Malta next week for a Netherlands-based ship design software annual users’ meeting at Valletta’s Mediterranean Conference Centre. Numeriek Centrum Groningen develops and markets Nupas-Cadmatic 3D ship design and plant design software. At the Malta meeting, it will showcase the new features of the latest software and participants will join workshops and presentations on how the software has been applied in various organisations. Participants will represent 65 companies from 20 countries. Most will stay at the Hotel Excelsior.

“We usually organise our users’ meeting close to our home base on the European mainland but this year we wanted to use an island location,” manager Miranda Lamain-Cordes told The Times Business. “Malta came to our mind first because it is so unique and beautiful. The MCC is a venue that suits us very well – we try to offer our guests a different experience with every event we organise.”

Ms Lamain-Cordes explained NCG has more than 400 clients in 40-plus countries and the users’ meeting is designed to update customers on new products and foster business relations. It doubles as a networking opportunity.

Participants will gather at the welcome party on Monday evening before the meeting takes place on Tuesday and Wednesday. A formal dinner will be held on Tuesday night.

Malta’s Ambassador to the Netherlands Martin Valentino assisted NCG in finding suitable locations for accommodation.
