A number of factories at San Gwann industrial estate are being demolished as work on the €30m BioMalta campus gets well underway.

Prime Minister Lawrence Gonzi, who toured the site this morning, was told how tenders have been published for civil engineering works for the 10,000 square metre campus.

Dr Gonzi said this was another project which would create new quality jobs for young people.

The key for the country's success, he said, was to anticipate change taking place globally, as had been done in the case of ICT, financial services and biotechnology.

He pointed out how in four years, more than 20,000 jobs had been created.

The BioMalta campus, he said, would attract investment in research and development projects.

Dr Gonzi was accompanied by Finance Minister Tonio Fenech and Education Minister Dolores Cristina.
