€2.7 million have been spent so far by the Grand Harbour Regeneration Corporation on the Valletta City Gate project.

The money was spent on site investigations, surveys, the Mepa permit application process and consultancy, Infrastructure Minister Austin Gatt said.

The project, incorporating City Gate, the new parliament building and an open theatre on the Opera House site, is projected to cost €80 million.
