Wasteserv is to export 2,100 tonnes of glass tomorrow for recycling in Portugal.

The glass consignment - the biggest ever - is currently being loaded onto a ship at Malta Shipyards.

Wasteserv announced the operation as the government and opposition traded statements on the storage of glass at Wied Fulija ( 9http://www.timesofmalta.com/articles/view/20120828/local/government-should-explain-llegal-storage-of-glass-at-wied-fulija-pl-spokesman.434709 )

"The operation is being carried out by an approved waste broker who has worked actively to secure a deal where the sale results in a "positive" deal in that WasteServ will not have to fork out extra money to have the material sent for recycling," a spokesman said.

The glass originated from bring-in sites and other source-separated channels as well as Wied Fulija.
