More than 2,000 of those who got work experience through the Employment Aid Programme subsequently landed a full-time job within the same companies, Education Minister Dolores Cristina said.
This was an 85 per cent success rate for the scheme, operated by the Employment and Training Corporation, Ms Cristina said as she visited the offices of Banif Bank, which took part in the scheme.
The bank offered work experience to 21 individuals, 14 of whom were later taken on full-time. The scheme is co-financed by the European Social Fund with a budget of €8.2 million.
It is open for the disadvantaged and those with special needs.
