A very rare carved wood and painted ship's figurehead dating to around 1800 is being auctioned in the second weekend of May.

The figurehead originally belonged to Marchese Giuseppe Scicluna, who had a number of merchandise vessels and it formed part of one of the vessels used to transport grain.

The auction, managed by Obelisk auction, will be at a private villa in Monterosa Gardens, San Gwann, on May 14 and 15 from 2.30 p.m.
