Eighteen migrants from  Somalia, Eritrea, and Sudan, including three families, one single woman and nine single men, left Malta earlier this morning to be resettled in the United States under the US Refugee Admissions Program (USRAP).

With this latest departure, the United States has resettled 1,207 persons from Malta since 2007, of whom 89 were this year. Since the start of the USRAP in 2008, the number of beneficiaries of protection resettled to the United States amounts to 1,179.

In all 1,912 beneficiaries of international protection have been relocated or resettled to various other developed countries since 2005.
