The Police Corps lost 87 members in 2013 and 78 last year, Home Affairs Minister Carmelo Abela said in Parliament today.

The resignations included two commissioners, one deputy commissioner, two superintendents, two inspectors and 121 constables.

Within the next few weeks a call will be issued for the recruitment of “about 100” new personnel for the corps.

Answering questions by Ċensu Galea (PN), the minister said he could not give exact numbers, but a lot depended on finances.
