The seventh edition of the Homes of Quality Golf Tournament, organised in collaboration with the Royal Malta Golf Club, saw a record participation of over 100 players, with Finley Gratil securing the much-coveted overall winner placing.

At just 16, Gratil took the tournament by storm, scoring 80 points in aggregate over the two days. With 122 participants, the tournament included a men’s stableford competition and a separate ladies’ stableford competition.

The top 72 scores from both competitions then qualified for the final round that took place on April 28. All competitors fought it out for the top prize, consisting of a trip for two to Tuscany, including entry to one of Tuscany’s top golf courses, with compliments of Homes of Quality, members of the Frank Salt Real Estate Group.

The Best Man competition was won by Gernot Schmid (79 points), while the Best Lady honours were taken by Miho Karasawa with 77 points, the latter also winning last edition’s tournament.

The prize was presented during a lunch get-together sponsored by Homes of Quality. HoQ branch manager Alex Papagiorcopulo expressed his pleasure at seeing the ever-increasing interest in this tournament and sport. For the presentation, he was accompanied by Frank Salt Real Estate director Darren De Domenico and club captain Thomas Jacobsen.

Mr Papagiorcopulo said it was good to see Maltese golf undergoing a serious renaissance, with established veterans inspiring the rise of young, cool and athletic home-grown golfing talents, including the likes of Finley Gratil.

Since its emergence as a major sport in the 1920s, golf has provided lifelong recreational opportunities and enjoyment for thousands in Malta, which is why HoQ strongly believes in this sport and has been supporting the local golfing community for several years now.
