Transport Malta has, since 2010, paid out a total of €4,226.87 in 16 claims for compensation for damages caused to vehicles by the state of the roads. 

The authority refused 31 claims for a total of €22,421.47.

Altogether there were 54 claims for payment of damages, for a total of €36,550.42.

Answering a parliamentary question by Labour MP Joseph Sammut, Transport Minister Austin Gatt said there was still a pending amount of €9,669.63 concerning seven claims, six of which were being heard in court.

To date this year there have been two claims which have not been fully entertained: one claimant who was paid €112.85 out of a claim for €165.60 and another who was paid €93 out of a claim for €243.
