A fleet of 16 boats will take part in the BOV Round-the-Islands Regatta, today.

Organised by the Royal Malta Yacht Club (RMYC), the regatta, with an estimated course length of 100 nautical miles, is one of the longest coastal races in Malta.

Depending on wind conditions, the race is expected to be demanding on the crews, both in Racing and Cruiser divisions.

The double-handed class makes the event even more challenging for those who wish to tackle a full day of racing with just two sailors on board.

Starting from Marsamxett Harbour, the race will take the fleet south towards Marsaxlokk and round the island of Filfla.

From there, boats will proceed to the south Comino channel before rounding Gozo in an anti-clockwise circle. They will then head back towards Filfla, round the south of Malta and finishing in Ta’ Xbiex, just outside the RMYC base.

To mark their on-going partnership, sponsors Bank of Valletta and the RMYC unveiled a new trophy for the Round-the-Islands Regatta.
