This month, Ying Yang Kickboxing Club are celebrating their 15th anniversary.

Master Noel Mercieca, a black belt 5th Dan in kickboxing and black belt in Tang So Do, founded the club in 1996.

Today, Mercieca trains 150 students, of which 15 are black belts.

In 1999, Ruth Tanti claimed the gold medal in the WKA World Championships. In 2004, the club became a member of the Malta Kickboxing Association (MKBA) and that same year, won eight title belts out of 11 matches in the nationals.

In 2007, the club joined the World Kickboxing Network (WKN). Two years later, the MKBA organised the first WKN World Cup where the club secured four world title belts.

In 2010, Terence Cilia won the WKN European Cup.

On December 7, Daniel Zahra will become the first Maltese kickboxer to compete on a professional level.
