A total of 14 submissions were received by the government for a yacht marina and cruise liner terminal in Gozo.

This was said this morning by Gozo Minister Anton Refalo and Employment Minister Evarist Bartolo during a visit to Magro Bros at Xewkija Industrial Estate this morning.

An international call for expressions of interest for the building and operation of a cruise liner terminal and a yacht marina in Gozo has been issued on June 28. It closed at the end of September.

During their visit, both ministers spoke about the need to create jobs in Gozo and the various initiatives launched by the Employment and Training Corporation, including the employment aid programme.

Mr Bartolo said the employment situation in Gozo had been deteriorating for years.

“We cannot allow Gozo to become a home for the elderly as young people move to Malta in search of a better life,” he said. He also emphasised the need for a fibre optic link with Gozo, which esdcrucial for the igaming industry and edistance learning.
