Fourteen hotels have taken advantage of a government policy allowing them to add two extra floors to their building since September, Tourism Minister Edward Zammit Lewis said yesterday.

The minister was speaking at a conference organised together with the Simplification and Reduction of Bureaucracy Commission.

Dr Zammit Lewis outlined a number of measures that were being taken as part of the government’s tourism policy for the next five years, including the establishment of a Foundation for Tourism Zones Developments.

He also announced that the ministry was collecting information on unnecessary or outdated legislation ahead of a planned Repeals Day.
