120 persons have been imprisoned over the years for VAT-related offences, Home Affairs Minister Carm Mifsud Bonnici said in reply to a parliamentary question.

33 were jailed in 2004, 24 in 2005, 20 in 2006, 10 in 2007, four in 2008, nine in 2009 and in 2010 and 11 last year.

They included 30 who were imprisoned for a year, two who were imprisoned for 18 months, two who were imprisoned for two years  and one who was jailed for four years and one month.
