Thirteen members of the Police Force have been reported for alleged aggression or abuse of power so far this year. Five cases have been taken to court, four are under investigation, and four were found to be unfounded, Home Affairs Minister Carm Mifsud Bonnici said in reply to a parliamentary question by Labour MP José Herrera.

93 reports of rape, sexual assault, public indecency

The minister also said in reply to another question, that the first eight months of 2009 the police received 18 reports of rape, 35 of sexual assault and 40 of indecency in public.

Answering a parliamentary question by Labour MP Adrian Vassallo, Dr Mifsud Bonnici said that 10, 21 and 40 people respectively have been taken to court.
