Thirteen Maltese workers in the Eastern parts of Libya have left the country on a Chinese ship and a British frigate.
Informed sources said 11 workers boarded a Chinese-chartered ferry which will take them to Crete while another two Maltese are on board HMS Cumberland, which arrived in Benghazi from Crete earlier today.
Meanwhile efforts are continuing by the government to secure the evacuation of Maltese stranded on oil rigs in the Libyan desert. The Libyan authorities are refusing to grant permission for internal flights to get the workers to a major city, and it is unsafe for them to travel by car.
