Tourism Minister Edward Zammit Lewis said that the film industry in Malta is expected to boost the economy by €100 million by the end of 2015, compared with €29 million in 2014 and €5 million in 2013.

Dr Zammit Lewis was speaking during the launch of the draft of the National Film Policy for public consultation at Fort St Elmo yesterday.

Two meetings will be held for members on the public, one at the Mediterranean Conference Centre in Valletta on Friday and the other in Mġarr, Gozo, on October 3, where the policy document will be discussed.

This is the first time that a national policy for the film industry in Malta is to be formulated.
