The government has so far paid €1,320,000 to architect Renzo Piano's office for the design of the entrance to Valletta, Infrastructure Minister Austin Gatt said in parliament.

He said it was too early to tell how much the architect would be paid for the whole project, since that depended on the value of the work done.

The minister said that by July 31, €46,343 had been spent on the marketing of the project.
