Around 1,000 delegates will be visiting Malta in June for the CEPIC (Coordination of European Picture Agencies Press Stock Heritage) Congress.

The CEPIC Congress is a forum and market place for the worldwide image industry taking place each year in a different European city. The congress is the biggest event of its kind in the world.

Most of the delegates will be accommodated in five-star hotels in the St Julian's area between June 4 and 8. During their stay, delegates will be treated to an exclusive recital at St John's Co-Cathedral in Valletta, followed by a gala dinner at the Upper Barrakka Gardens.

CEPIC Committee vice-president Jean Desaunois said the main reason the congress had chosen Malta was because of its accession to the EU. The committee said it was also impressed by the logistical arrangements in Malta.
