Recently, a parliamentary question was tabled regarding the new terminal in Ċirkewwa, which will be completed later this year, according to Transport Minister Austin Gatt.

I do hope that there will be competent staff to manage embarkation on the ferry or, at least, that the layout of the area where cars wait to board the ferry will not to allow any irresponsible person to jump the queue.

I have twice experienced chaos when some drivers jumped the queue, leading to heated arguments with the other drivers who had been queuing for quite some time in the scorching sun.

When we complained to the staff, we were told they could not do anything about it. The one at the front said he couldn’t see what was happening at the back and the one at the back said he was too far away to see what was happening along the way.

The end result was that we had people shouting, obviously because some had to wait for another ship, and not a single policeman was to be seen!
