Part of the proceeds from the rock opera Ġensna will be in aid of the 48-year-old worker who was injured when a structure used to hang stage equipment collapsed on Monday.

Ġensna producer David Borg announced yesterday that the decision was taken following a wish expressed by President George Abela.

He said the original plan was that 10 per cent of the proceeds from the two performances today and tomorrow would go to the Community Chest Fund.

However, the President wanted to give the money to the family of the injured worker, whose condition was described as critical but stable.

Meanwhile, organisers said that despite the accident, everything was on track.

The venue had been certified as safe by a professional commissioned by the management of the Malta Fairs and Convention Centre, in Ta’ Qali, where the rock opera is being staged.
