The radiant smile of Sarah Agius, 19, who died in a traffic accident in Spain on Monday, will be missed by her friends and relatives who yesterday flooded her Facebook page with messages to their “angel in the sky.”

“Rest in peace, Sarah. Your smile will be remembered forever” one of her friends wrote, while another said: “I’m still in disbelief that I will never be able to hug you once again... and no one will replace that beautiful smile.”

Ms Agius died on the spot when she was run over by a car as she crossed a motorway to get to a bus stop in Valencia at about 11 a.m. on Monday. Her father, Charlot, witnessed the accident.

An autopsy was carried out yesterday as part of routine procedure whenever a person dies in a foreign country. Plans are now being made to bring her body to Malta for burial, a Foreign Affairs Ministry spokesman said. As news about Ms Agius’s death spread, her friends inundated her Facebook account with messages of condolences and disbelief.

Ms Agius, a university student, was expected to start her second year at University next week. In one of the online comments a friend said: “Going to the Communications’ building... was devastating this morning knowing we will never meet again to support each other.”

Friends spoke about her “amazing personality” and the positive attitude she had towards life.

“Uni will not be the same without your positiveness,” a young woman wrote, while another course mate said: “You used to light up the lecture room and make us laugh.” Similarly, another friend wrote: “You used to fill up a class with your presence.”

One young woman went on to say: “You’re my angel in the sky. I cannot believe what happened, Sar”, and another message read: “Never take life for granted, coz you’ll never know when the end comes... You will be sorely missed.”
