The father and girlfriend of Matthew Zahra, who went missing on Wednesday, are knocking on his friends’ doors asking whether anyone knows anything about his disappearance.

“We don’t know what happened. All we know is that he drove to Marsaxlokk where his car was found; then he vanished,” said his father, Vincent.

“We are worried since we have no clue what could have happened.”

In an attempt to piece a picture together, the missing man’s partner, Krystle Grixti, together with his father have been calling friends and meeting them.

“We ask them if they know anything. Maybe someone will know something,” Mr Zahra said.

He added that he was regularly going to the police headquarters to speak to investigating officers in case they had gathered any helpful information.

Mr Zahra, 27, was reported missing on Wednesday evening.

He lived in Valletta with Ms Grixti and their three children: Bradley, 10, Mathrirs, eight, and Nerhea, two.

He left home at 7 a.m. and, after not seeing or hearing from him all day, the family decided to file a police report at about 8 p.m.

He was last seen in Valletta and his car was found in Marsaxlokk.

His father yesterday said that on Wednesday, a public holiday, his son woke up early to train since he was a body builder. He then must have headed to Valletta to meet some friends.

Asked if his son often went to Marsaxlokk, he said the family went there occasionally to eat at a fish restaurant.

Mr Zahra said he found it strange his son had not called home since Wednesday.

“A month ago he went to the UK and called every day… Now his phone is switched off.

“I try calling him every 10 to 15 minutes in the hope that he picks up but it keeps diverting to voicemail,” he said.

The missing man’s children have been asking for their father ever since they last saw him before they went to sleep on Tuesday evening.

Mr Zahra said he was unaware if his son had any serious problems and insisted he did not suffer from any medical condition that could have threatened his life.
