A 25-year-old Serbian was charged yesterday with causing damage and seriously injuring two people in three traffic accidents in the space of four hours in the early hours of Saturday morning.
Borislav Ilici from St Paul’s Bay was allegedly driving his mother’s Land Rover at about 1 a.m. when he crashed into a car in Ball Street Paceville, only to crash into another car at 4.45 a.m. and slightly injuring the driver, the court heard.
At 5 a.m., in yet another accident, he allegedly seriously injured another two people.
Mr Ilicic was also charged with failing to stop after the first two accidents, driving dangerously and recklessly, driving without insurance or a licence, failing to obey the rules of the road and lying under oath at the St Julians police station.
Mr Ilicic’s 46-year-old mother, Tatjana Tesic, was also charged with allowing her car to be used by her son when he was not licensed to drive and also lying under oath at the police station.
Magistrate Claire Stafrace Zammit granted them bail against a deposit of €1,000 each and a personal guarantee of €20,000 each.
Lawyer Vince Micallef appeared for the victims while lawyers Luciano Busuttil and Gavin Gulia appeared for the accused.
