The DNA test results on the skeleton found in a remote field in Qala have established the remains are those of Briton Geoffrey Morgan who went missing in June, a forensic expert confirmed.

Marisa Cassar, who conducted the DNA test at Malta’s MLS BioDNA laboratory, said the tests were concluded on Friday and the family informed on Saturday.

Dr Cassar said the samples were not sent abroad for testing and all the work was conducted locally after a sample was taken from one of Mr Morgan’s daughters.

Mr Morgan, an 80-year-old dementia sufferer, had gone missing while on holiday with his family in Gozo.

On June 5, he was getting ready for breakfast with his wife and daughter when he slipped out of the front door of their Għajnsielem flat. That was the last time his family saw him.
