Archbishop Paul Cremona yesterday asked those present for the celebration that ended the liturgical year not to follow the world’s logic but to serve other people.

Mgr Cremona was leading the Diocesan celebration of Christ the King at the Mosta parish church.

This year’s celebration marked the end of the Year of Faith launched by Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI on October 11 of last year.

President George Abela and his wife Margaret, Auxiliary Bishop Charles Scicluna and Archbishop Emeritus Ġużeppi Mercieca were present for the celebration. Reflecting on Christ’s crucifixion, the Archbishop said Jesus wanted to renew the relationships between humans.

The kings of this world wanted those around them to serve them, however, Christ the King wanted to wash His apostles’ feet.

Our relationship should be of servitude towards each other, he said.

And although He was ridiculed, Jesus did not utter angry words but forgave those who put him on the cross, Mgr Cremona added.

He appealed to the hundreds present not to follow this world’s logic – which could lead to revenge – but instead, to be true disciples.
