Friends and family of Adam Bajada woke up to devastating news yesterday morning after learning that the 27-year-old had been killed in an accident during the night.
Mr Bajada, from St Paul’s Bay, was driving a BMW Series 3 when he crashed into the facade of a garage in Mġarr Road, Mġarr, at around 1.20am yesterday. The rear part of the vehicle caught fire and was extinguished by the police.
Members of the Civil Protection Department were called on site to pull Mr Bajada from the car. He was certified dead on the spot.
Sarah Lee Spagnol described her friend as “one of a kind”.
“He was truly unique. He had a lovely character and was loved by many. It’s the worst feeling ever to lose someone so precious.”
With heavy hearts, a flood of friends took to Facebook to express their grief and reminisce about Adam, or “Adz”, as he was fondly known.
Several devastated friends who had shared their childhood with Mr Bajada remembered him as a quiet, jolly and kind-hearted person who loved everyone, adding that he would be sorely missed by all who knew him.
Some remembered him from his stint at the Sirens Football Club years ago, noting his passion for the UK-based football club Sheffield Wednesday.
Others fondly remembered him as their former workmate at Great Meals Pizzeria and Take Away and at the Oracle Casino in Buġibba.
He had a lovely character and was loved by many
One of Mr Bajada’s last Facebook posts typed earlier this month addressed his friends.
He tagged a number of them as a gesture of appreciation following an enjoyable night out. A few minutes later he posted: “P.S. Sorry if I forgot anyone. Love you all.”
Nearly two weeks later, distraught friends have replied: “We love you too, Adz.”
His funeral will be held on Thursday at 1.30pm at the Qawra parish church.
