Kenny Dalglish’s Liverpool have been drawn away to Exeter in the second round of the League Cup.

Liverpool, who won the last of their seven League Cups in 2003, will make a midweek trip to Devon to face Paul Tisdale’s League One outfit at St James Park.

They played Exeter at the same stage of the competition in 1981, with Dalglish scoring at home and away as Liverpool won 5-0 and 6-0 on their way to winning the trophy.

Ties to be played week commencing August 22.
