Alternattiva Demokratika chairman Michael Briguglio yesterday said recognising same-sex couples in marriage would strengthen the concept of the family.

Addressing a press conference in Sliema, Dr Briguglio said AD was the only party in favour of full equality in all aspects of social and family policy, irrespective of sexual orientation and gender identity.

“AD is in sync with the proposals of the Malta Gay Rights Movement for recognition of same-sex marriage. Only the right of marriage represents equality.”

He accused the PN of adopting a confessional approach towards lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender people, and Labour of failing to propose clear policies on rights such as marriage.
