Caritas Malta has raised €46,000 through its seven-day fundraising activities that will go towards alleviating the financial difficulties faced by the voluntary organisation which helps people overcome drug addictions.

Caritas director Monsignor Victor Grech said he “tangibly felt the support of the Maltese public”. The seven-day fund raiser, held between September 27 and October 6, culminated in the Caritas Trail. People were invited to walk, run or cycle to raise funds for the NGO. It was sponsored by Bank of Valletta and Maltapost.

A few months ago, Mgr Grech said drug programmes run by Caritas risked becoming unsustainable unless it received some funding.
