Under the four-year chairmanship of Alan Camilleri, Malta Enterprise awarded a total of €13.5 million in direct orders and €4.5 million for the refurbishment of the corporation’s current offices at the former St Luke’s Hospital.

Answering a Parliamentary question by Justyne Caruana (PL), Investment Minister Chris Cardona said Mr Camilleri also spent €165,853 on overseas trips and hospitality for the purpose of promoting direct investment in Malta.

Mr Camilleri’s remuneration consisted of €70,000 a year, a mobile phone, a fixed telephone line, internet services, an official car and work-related hospitality expenses.

Dr Cardona also revealed that Malta Enterprise and Malta Industrial Parks had given out a number of chunky direct orders for a total of just over €2 million. They included €615,149 in consultancy work on the Safi Aviation Park, €413,000 for the park’s architecture and project management, and €114,979 for plastering and decoration.
