Columnist Daphne Caruana Galizia was fined €100 for contempt of court yesterday after failing to show up in the first sitting of a criminal libel suit.

The case was initiated after Edgar Bonnici Cachia felt libelled and defamed by her article titled “The Labour Party: a Hitman for a Candidate”, which appeared on her blog Daphne Caruana Galizia’s Notebook.

The case continues.
